N THE STREETS

BASKETBALL CAMP SERIES

Cats That Care’s mission is simple yet powerful — to connect, develop, and protect the children of Memphis. N The Streets Basketball Camp is our way of living that mission in its purest form.

Every summer, from May through July, Cats That Care brings N The Streets to life. Twice a month, we host a week-long camp (Monday – Friday) in a different inner-city school or community center, focusing on and reaching a new neighborhood each time. The camp is completely free for all participants, ages 6 to 18. Every child receives a light, healthy lunch, a t-shirt, camp superlatives, and a certificate of completion.

For six weeks each year, we create safe spaces where youth can grow both on and off the court. We teach the game of basketball, but we also teach life skills, discipline, and accountability. We’re doing the work, using a tool that thousands of kids can relate to. How can you do the work if you are not N THE STREETS?

the november hoop fest

The November Hoop Fest is not your average tournament — it’s Memphis’ premier invitational showcase for middle school basketball. Each year, 19–24 of the city’s best schools are invited, with a final competitive field of 10 to 16 teams. The top private and public school programs collide to highlight the incredible talent our city produces.

From the moment spectators and teams walk into the gym, they know this is different. Each program receives tournament t-shirts, plays only on main courts under the lights with videographers and photographers capturing every moment, and competes for honors like All-Tournament Team, Defensive Player of the Tournament, Most Outstanding Player, Finals MVP, Championship t-shirts and hats, and the coveted Gold Ball Trophy. Most importantly, teams get the rare opportunity to face opponents they normally wouldn’t encounter during the season. Playing for name across their chest and the ultimate bragging rights.

This is Cats That Care’s  annual gala event. It’s our largest fundraiser and a celebration of the future of Memphis basketball. We produce an NCAA-level environment in a safe, premier venue, complete with starting lineup announcements, media guides, and concessions to elevate the fan experience. The November Hoop Fest offers players, fans, and families the chance to enjoy high-level competition while supporting a cause that directly impacts the youth of our city.

For Memphis, it’s more than basketball. It’s a stage, a spotlight, and a statement.

Spring and summer team sports are becoming increasingly exclusive, and for many families, the biggest barrier is cost. Competitive basketball should never be a luxury reserved for only a select few. That’s why the Memphis Ghost Cats Basketball Club (GCB) was established: to provide families with an affordable pathway to high-level competition.

GCB is more than a team — it’s a family. We love, train, push, develop, and hold each other accountable. In our inaugural season, we competed in over 10 tournaments across Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Florida, earning several Top 3 finishes along the way.

True to the mission of Cats That Care, GCB prioritizes development over exposure. Our coaches focus on preparing athletes for the next level, both on and off the court, building skills, discipline, and character that last far beyond the game.
